I have not held elected office in the past and have not been a candidate for elected office until now.
3. Occupation:
I retired from the Ector County Independent School District after 35 years of service as a classroom teacher; advise; campus administrator and central office administrator. When I retired in 2009, I was assistant superintendent in the Department of Human Resources. After my retirement, I provided services to the district as a substitute teacher and substitute administrator. I also provided substitute administrator service to the Midland Independent School District for a short term.

5. Family:
I am a widow, wife, Adela Larrea Vasquez, 54 years of marriage (deceased). Two children; daughter, Monica Vasquez Tschauner and son, Patrick Vasquez. Adela and I were also blessed with four grandchildren.
6. Why are you looking for this office?
I wish to provide public, civic, and fair representation to all citizens of Odessa, Texas. I intend to be a good steward of the financial responsibilities that come with being a member of city council. My vote will always be to do what is right and best for all citizens of our great community. Odessa has been good to me. It’s my turn to give back to Odessa to help it continue to progress for our future citizens.
7. What qualifies you for this position?
I have lived in Odessa since 1954 and consider it my hometown. I did all my education in public school in Odessa. My career employment at CISSD (35+) has given me the opportunity to work with a diverse population of citizens many of whom are currently public and civic leaders in the community; business owners; educators; religious leaders and, most importantly, our community workforce. All of these groups of representatives will be counting on me to make my single vote count in favor of what is in the BEST INTEREST OF ALL CITIZENS OF ODESSA!
8. Have you ever been charged with a crime?
No, I don’t have a criminal record.
9. Given the state of politics in the world today, what approach would you take if your opinion differed from that of other board members?
I will always listen to and respect the opinions of others, with the understanding that I may differ from their way of thinking. My goal is to educate myself on my responsibilities as a city councilor and to abide by the rules of governance and any ordinances I am sworn to.
10. What is the most important problem facing the Odessa city council?
At this time, I can honestly say that I do not have first-hand knowledge of the most important issue facing our current council.
