TITLE: Head of Financial Transformation

TEAM/PROGRAM: SCI Change and Deployment, International Programs

LOCATION: Regional office or country office, with frequent travel to other country offices

TO NOTE: Nat-2

THE DURATION OF THE CONTRACT: 12 months, renewable


Level 3: the job holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (eg once a week or more) or intensively (eg four days in a month or more or overnight) because they work on national programs; or visit country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police vetting/vetting process personnel.


The Finance Transformation Manager is a position within the Change and Deployment Team which was created to deliver a number of high priority projects implementing new business systems and processes in the country offices of Save the Children International (SCI).

The Finance Transformation Manager is responsible for providing finance and accounting functional expertise to help countries implement S2P, Coding and PRIME. They will support successful readiness activities and provide hands-on, hands-on support to help country finance teams prepare for and manage change post-go-live. The Finance Transformation Manager is responsible for supporting all Country Offices in their region and may be required to provide support to other regions, as well as provide global input to improve the quality of solution design and deployment approach. For 2022-2024, the role will be responsible for preparing countries to implement the new financial coding model. As this is a ‘travelling’ position, we expect that at least 60% of the time will be spent traveling to support country offices.


Reports to: Head of Global Transformation – Finance with a dotted line to the Regional Finance Director (based in the region)

Role dimensions

  • Close cooperation with Regional Change Managers and Business Transformation Trainers based in the region to ensure full alignment on project progress, risks and issues.
  • Extensive engagement with local coding project teams, regional and SMT teams, and other national and SMT teams

Annual salary level: XOF 26,200,000 to XOF 35,000,000 (Offer will be based on experience/internal equity and financial availability. SCI offers a competitive benefits package apart from salary).


Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage with CFOs and other members of the leadership team, as appropriate, to explain the strategic rationale for these projects and ensure their buy-in
  • Lead coding engagement calls and launches
  • Hold weekly check-in calls with the project manager
  • Maintain a strategic overview of the deployment plan in the RO and drive performance

Preparation activities and prerequisites

  • Provide functional expertise to enable countries to carry out technical readiness activities
  • Provide advice and support country offices to validate data required as part of preparedness activities

Change impact assessment and solutions

  • Ensure that the impact of change on finance processes and teams is fully understood and that plans are in place to manage it effectively at country office level
  • Provide support and guidance to enable countries to implement changes to trade processes and policies within finance teams

User acceptance testing

  • Support Country Office finance teams to complete UAT for impacted finance processes

Training, coaching and post-commissioning support

  • Facilitate the online course and conduct training sessions on technical tools
  • Provide coaching on new processes
  • Provide assistance in problem solving and escalation to center function and project team when solutions cannot be found locally

Transition to BAU and continuous improvement

  • Recommend improvements to the solution (both business process and system) to better meet the needs of the Country Office and, where appropriate, submit change requests to the Change Approval Board
  • Implement the post-go-live plan, including organizing refresher sessions with countries as needed
  • Assess and provide practical support to countries when needed
  • Ensure lessons learned are shared within the global finance function and within the region (e.g. leading sessions at regional finance meetings)
  • Ensure Finance BAU roles and responsibilities are understood from the start of implementation
  • Facilitate a smooth transition to BAU for finance teams

University degree / equivalent work experience


  • At least 3-5 years of experience working in an SCI country office finance team
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to lead, facilitate and influence change and delivery of major projects affecting business processes and systems in the field
  • Proven ability to work in a large, complex, highly networked matrix organization and to influence through soft power
  • Previous and highly effective experience in coaching and mentoring others
  • Experience solving complex issues through analysis, defining a clear path forward and ensuring buy-in
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, proven ability to engage stakeholders
  • Knowledge and experience of working within a standardized project methodology
  • A strong results orientation and a proactive approach
  • Excellent communication skills, fluency in written and spoken English (French in WCA, Spanish in LAC, Arabic for MEEE)
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the region for approximately 60%
