IDE projects in the UK between 2017-2018 and 2021-2022

The graph shows the number of IDE projects that landed in the UK between 2017 to 2018 and 2021 to 2022.

There were 2,072 in 2017 to 2018, 1,782 in 2018 to 2019, 1,852 in 2019 to 2020, 1,538 in 2020 to 2021 and 1,589 in 2021 to 2022. Of the 1,589 IDE projects that landed in 2021 to 2022, 1,174 were supported by THIS.

Of the 1,589 IDE projects that landed in 2021 to 2022, 596 (38%) were made by new investors in the UK and 993 (62%) were made by existing investors in the UK.

There were 75,968 new jobs created in 2017 to 2018, 57,625 in 2018 to 2019, 56,117 in 2019 to 2020, 55,319 in 2020 to 2021 and 84,759 in 2021 to 2022.

THISGlobal Entrepreneur Program

This program attracts and enables high-potential international mobile entrepreneurs and their fast-growing, innovation-rich businesses to grow and internationalize from a global headquarters in the UK.

Capital investment

Venture capital attracts foreign investment from venture capitalists and venture capital funds in start-ups, growth companies and high-value funds.

Large Capital involves foreign institutional investment in large investment projects in real estate, infrastructure and energy.

While capital investments are all foreign investments, most do not meet the criteria for IDE. See the technical appendix for more details.
